Had a battle a few weeks (months?) back and we setup some of our old and new terrain on our home made board.
The board: made of a thick foam glued onto a 8 foot by 4 foot chipwood board, we attacked it with spray paint to melt the craters into it. We then bought a large tin of grey paint and slapped it all over. This was over 6 years ago, so from memory we gave it a light dry brush of a lighter grey on top. There is a 2 foot run off area that we left as timber and edged with some timber strips as a dice rolling/rulebook storage/dead pile area.
The buildings: Again, some of these were made over 6 years ago when our raw materials were foam boxes and other foam off cuts. We found after digging them out of our boxes that some were warped and crushed while others were still servicable. We chucked the crushed ones. The other builds are from the Cities of Death series. I bought up big a few years ago, created my own amalgamations and here they are. They have been undercoated black and then sprayed with the rough coat paint. Still need to pick out the ornamentation, but they look good never the less.
The barrackades n other stuff: These are collections of WWII tanks, half tracks etc and other ammo crates etc that we’ve collected over the years. They pretty much had the same treament as the board (grey paint n lighter dry brush).
We had a run through battle with the Orks vs Space Wolves (me). I pretty much got tabled on turn 4 or 5. I spread out too thin and attached piece meal. Well done to Tim for a great strategy and that nasty Warboss with cybork body on a bike (Toughness 6 is just lethal!).
